How does Dubber record Microsoft Teams calls and meetings?
Dubber records peer to peer, meetings and PSTN, whether via direct route or Microsoft telephony.
What appears if I dial into the meeting?
- Teams users: There is no difference between a guest or teams user when they call via phone, they are all treated as a PSTN number call to the meeting.
- Guest users: The display telephone number.
How will participants, external to the organisation, be recorded?
External users can sign in as a guest. They will be recording as part of the policy owners meetings and calls. The external participant is can be identified by their phone number in a call however in a meeting the participant choose their display name.
Can calls be recorded if someone isn’t signed into MS teams?
To be recorded a user must be signed into teams and have a policy applied to them.
Will all participants who attend be stored in dubber?
A user who has a recording policy will have a copy of the entire call/meeting, this includes all participants that joined. They will be able to access that call/meeting in Dubber. A user that does not have a recording policy, or if their recording policy is not of Dubber’s, then they won’t exist in Dubber and they won’t have any recordings in Dubber.
Can we see if calls are incoming or outgoing?
With the call (2 participant) we can tell if the incoming or outgoing - based on the metadata.
With the meeting, it will show in the portal as an outgoing call with additional information of all participants in that meeting.
What happens when you switch hosts?
Today MS teams does not allow changing of hosts.

What happens when someone leaves a call/meeting and comes back?
Each time a participant leaves a call and comes back a new record is started for them. For the other participants who stay on the call, only one recording will be created.
Is pause and resume available on calls? If so, is it paused for everyone?
*48 and *49 can be used to pause and resume calls. This is not available on meetings.
The call will be paused for everyone.
Are recordings in mono or dual-channel audio?
- Calls are recorded in dual channel.
- Meetings are recorded in mono.
Would an Azure resource have to be provided for the recording Bots?
Dubber organises the Bots at no additional cost to the customer. We ensure that your data resides in region and maintain high availability.
Would Dubber add latency to the call connection?
Yes, adding Dubber may add some latency to call connection, depending on the number and location(s) of participants. Delays of 1-3 seconds are typical for small to moderately-sized meetings, and when all parties are in the same geographic region. However longer delays may be observed during extremely large meetings, or when participants are in geographical diverse locations. This can be due to a number of factors, typically related to the underlying Microsoft infrastructure.
Can I use Dubber with end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for Microsoft Teams calls?
MS Teams end-to-end encryption cannot share your encrypted data with Dubber. If participants on a Teams call switch on end-to-end encryption, Dubber features such as call recording and transcription are unavailable.
